[5:91] Shaitan (Satan) wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from As-Salat (the prayer). So, will you not then abstain?

(Satan seeketh only to cast among you enmity and hatred by means of strong drink) when you become drunk (and games of chance) when you loose your money, (and to turn you from remembrance of Allah) He says: intoxicants drive you from the obedience of Allah (and from (His) worship) He says: it also prevents you from performing the five daily prayers. (Will ye then have done?) will you then stop from indulging in them.

Hadith of the Week - Salat & Salam Upon Rasool Allah (s.a.w)

'UbaydAllah ibn Abi Talhah narrated from his father (radi Allahu anhuma) that the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) came one day, and his face was radiating with happiness. The Companions asked him, "O Messenger of Allah! We see that your face is full of happiness!" So he responded to them, "Indeed an Angel came to me, and said, 'O Muhammad! Will it please you that your Lord has said, 'No one from your Ummah sends blessings upon you except that I will send blessings upon him ten times, and no one from your Ummah will send salutations upon you except that I will send salutations upon him ten times.'" So I said, "Yes, Indeed my Lord (that will please me)!"
Narrated by Ahmad, Authentic according to Albani.

Lessons from the Hadith
- Sending peace and blessings upon the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) is of the most noble of deeds.

- The Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) was happy to know that his followers will be rewarded for sending peace and blessings upon him.

- The Companions (radi Allahu anhum) noticed the Prophet's (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) emotions and would ask why he was happy.

- Allah (azza wa jal) and His Angels praise the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam), so we should as  well.
Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O you that believe! Send your blessings on him, and salute him with all respect. (33:56)

- Sending salat (blessings) upon the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) means that we ask Allah to send blessings on the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) and ask Allah to praise him in the manner that he guided us to do.

- Sending salaam (greetings, salutations) upon the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) is to pray for him and ask that he be kept safe from all harm.

-Sending salat and salaam on the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) guarantees that Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) will send His Salat and Salaam upon you.

And Allah the Most High Knows best
